Warning...do not waste your hard earned money on this movie.
What seemed like a funny slap stick movie in the trailers...was ruined with just a couple of scenes.
I actually laughed and thought parts of the show was funny and the idea of a spoof on Nascar had some potential.
To its credit....there was no nudity and only just some mild sex implications ( unfortunately it glorified homosexuality on equal grounds as heterosexuality...in fact the gay guys had a better relationship then the straight couples) and in spite of a lot of horrific accidents on the raceway...no one came away actually injured...in fact not even one scrape or drop of blood. Also there was some redeeming value in some bratty kids and a lost dad coming to their senses by the end of the movie.
I came to see a comedy and one of the first scenes was a painful sequence where Will Ferrell is put in the position of defending America and his heterosexuality or get his arm tortuously broken...which both happen. Not funny at all..in fact it was a sickening scene. But there was more sickness later as near the end of the movie...Will gives in to his sexuality and America and has a 10 to 15 second scene of kissing Frenchy on the lips as the cameras rotated around them showing every angle. Maybe it wasn't the cameras ... maybe I was just getting sick and woozy.
Also the scenes of his two brat kids weren't too bad until they started spewing F... words at their grandfather and threatening him physically. A later scene they were asking their other drug dealing grandfather if he has any "weed" they could have. These kids aren't even teen agers yet! This is supposed to be funny? When Will Ferrell is thinking of giving up racing...he says that he thinks he might get a gun and get into dealing crack...and that he would be a nice crack dealer not a mean one. Getting funnier all the time.
Do the world a favor and dont send your money to Hollywood and show your support for such trash...like I made the mistake of doing.
