1) One type of guy looks at the Glory of God in creation and ponders God's Laws and tries to determine what pleases God. This is what is called the "General Revelation" of God's Word. For instance ...it is revealed that a man and a woman were intended for each other by observing obvious biology. A man on man or woman on woman relationship may be pleasing to the couple but creation tells you that isn't what God intended.
2) The second guy studies the Bible ... here is the "Special Revelation" of God's Word. God tells you everything you need to know here. Study the Bible and you can learn God's Laws and have salvation revealed to you. God speaks to us through His Book He wrote.
3) The third type of guy does neither. He simply learns by doing. He doesn't observe or read -- he has to pee on an electric fence and finds out for himself. He could save himself a lot of suffering by observing God in creation and reading God's Word in the Bible.
I think I'm dating a number two guy!!!
